I wonder if you are being paid by the big insurance companies to spread that crap.

People are dying RIGHT NOW because they cannot get insurance, or cannot afford the whopping deductables and coinsurance to get treated.

Meanwhile fat cat health care gets richer and richer.

Where is your plan to fix heathcare? Oh yea, that's right. You do not have one.

These are some great questions you've presented. However, I have some questions I'd like to ask you:

1- People are dying RIGHT NOW because they cannot get insurance, or cannot afford the whopping deductables and coinsurance to get treated.

If this is so, then why do the taxes to pay for the bill start upon it's approval, yet the coverage doesn't start until 2013? I thought this was to help people RIGHT NOW, yet it doesn't. Why is that? I thought the purpose of this bill was to help people RIGHT NOW.

The government doesn't care about helping people RIGHT NOW. If they did, the coverage would start immediately. Unfortunately, only the taxes start immediately. It seems that the real quest here is to start taxing citizens RIGHT NOW for something they aren't receiving. That's taxation without representation to a degree. This is one of the reasons our country gave King George the boot and is completely unconstitutional.

At any rate, I'd LOVE to hear your answer.

2- Where is your plan to fix heathcare? Oh yea, that's right. You do not have one.

This statement may or may not be true, but I'll ask you a question: Why does the bill have to be passed RIGHT NOW if the coverage doesn't begin RIGHT NOW? If we can afford to wait for 3 years to be covered, then why can't we wait and hammer out another plan? Or better yet, why can't we delay this bill and take a close look at the government mandates that are choking our present system? The only plan you and the dems seem to have is ram it down everyone's throat so fast that nobody even knows what's in it. Nancy Pelosi said we'd have to wait to see what's in it after it's been passed. Does this really make sense to you? If so, why don't you come to work for me and we'll wait until you've worked the first week to find out what you'll be paid. Somehow I bet you're not for that plan. LOL!

Another question: Why should a healthy young man or woman have to purchase insurance if they don't want to? I'll tell you why: To subsidise everyone else. Why does the state have to mandate coverage for abortions, Viagra, sex-change operations, etc.? All this does is inflate the cost of coverage for people that don't need or want those things. Why does a policy cost the same for a family of 3 as it does for a family of 8? Does that seem fair to you? Why can't a healthy person buy a policy that covers catastrophic illness and injury and then purchase coverage to cover pregnancy, cancer, abortions - Whatever they want coverage for? Wouldn't allowing the insurance companies to offer these types of coverage lower the costs for all? I bet it would. We could also allow coverage to be issued across state lines if the federal government would allow a la cart insurance coverages to be free of state and federal mandate, but it's hard for the government to control it if it's free of mandates, isn't it? This would allow for a more competitive environment among the insurance companies and benefit the consumer by giving them the power to shop by price.

3- Meanwhile fat cat health care gets richer and richer.

And this is a bad thing because? Isn't it reasonable for any company to make a profit? I wonder to what extent state and federal coverage mandates affect the amount that insurance companies have to charge. Somehow I'll bet you're all for profit when it's yours! LOL! Oh, if this is a problem, then why does the bill mandate that everyone buy an insurance policy under penalty of the IRS if you don't do so? I thought this was a health care bill. It seems to me it's a "purchase an insurance policy" bill. Won't the bill you love so much cause the insurance company to benefit further? Oh, that's right - The penalties are lower than the cost of the government penalties, so most employers can save money by just paying the penalty. How convenient is that?

You've fell for the class warfare put forth by the liberals hook, line and sinker. Why aren't you all pissed at Al Gore for potentially pocketing billions of dollars by perpetrating the Global Warming Hoax and then investing in the technology? Couldn't that money be given to the taxpayers to lower their carbon footprint? Oh, and I don't see ol' Al volunteering to give up his profits. Why is that? Why is it OK to fleece companies, yet prominent democrats aren't asked to give up their funds? I don't see the government going after George Soros or Arianna Huffington. They're fat cats that keep getting richer, yet that's somehow OK.

You seem to be a lazy, whiny socialist that thinks that you deserve everything for free. Well I have news for you, Vladimir - There's no free lunch. Not for me, you, Illegal Aliens, welfare queens - NOBODY! Somebody has to pay for your "right." What idiots like you are lining up for is a socialist society, yet you're so stupid that you don't understand that socialism eliminates the middle class. Under socialism you only have 2 classes - The ruling class (None of the rules apply to them, like Gore telling you to ride a bike while he uses private jets and 6 limos) and the servant class (people under the subjugation of the ruling class).

I have bad news for you - You'd not be able to bitch and moan if you were a member of the servant class because you'd have given up your FREEDOM to do so so you could have your health care. Think abut it.
Obama is calling for a final “50 plus 1” vote in "the next few weeks." And he wants citizens to "make their voice heard."

After spewing the longest string of lies we have heard to date on health care reform, President Obama threw down the grassroots gauntlet:

"I urge every American who supports this reform to make their voice heard. Make your voice heard."

Let Obama and Congress hear from EVERY American – whether they support healthcare reform or OPPOSE it!!

What is stated in the bills presently in the Senate and House versions, is NOT what the majority of Americans want. The Senate and House bills were put together and ‘agreed upon’ by the Dems as a result of the many ‘kickbacks’ and ‘sweetheart deals’ which many of our elected officials would receive by voting ‘Yea’. The American people are neither blind nor stupid.

Are you aware that the CBO report refutes the widely disseminated figure of 40 million uninsured; saying the number of Americans without health insurance for an entire year is more likely to be between 21 million and 31 million. How many in this range of uninsured do you think are counted as ‘illegal immigrants’? To be honest, it may very well be the majority of those who are uninsured.

Again, for this small number of people, our government wants to overhaul the entire health care system of 303,000,000+ American citizens, to accommodate a few million who are not even legally eligible or those who simply CHOOSE NOT to have health care coverage; but will still be fined/taxed!! Each taxpayer will be responsible to pay taxes (over an approximate 10-year period) for an amount of $1 TRILLION+ for this bill alone! Note however, that NO ONE will be able to reap any of the so-called ‘benefits’ for 2 to 5 years to come.

What is wrong with this picture?

Everyone CAN and MUST get involved, because quite frankly healthcare reform (as it stands now) is unconstitutional! **(See below) Please join over ONE MILLION people who have already signed our petition to Congress @ http://www.freeourhealthcarenow.com/ and http://www.freedomworks.org/ . Keep your health care choices, decisions and care in YOUR hands, not in the hands of a government-run ‘health committee’.

Also, take into consideration that the bill presently in the Senate will cut $800 BILLION from Medicare. With the government NOT increasing Social Security payments this year, how will YOU pay for your parents or elderly family member’s health needs under Medicare??

Please call, fax or e-mail your Reps & Senators and tell them to vote “NO” on any government-run healthcare reform bill as now on the table:
http://www.senate.gov/ ; http://www.house.gov/ ; http://www.emailthepresident.com/ or http://www.whitehouse.gov. .

Together we, as Americans, can and MUST make a difference!! Please forward this information to everyone you know who believes that our ever-growing government should stay out of America’s healthcare needs.

**Amendment 28 – Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives, and Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States.

Again, it is illegal for our government to force ANY citizen to purchase any product, such as health insurance; or the government will impose fines/taxes if you choose not to have health insurance.

-- In June 2008, Robin Beaton, a retired nurse from Waxahachie, Texas, found out she had breast cancer and needed a double mastectomy. Two days before her surgery, her insurance company, Blue Cross, flagged her chart and told the hospital they wouldn't allow the procedure to go forward until they finished an examination of five years of her medical history -- which could take three months. It turned out that a month before the cancer diagnosis, Beaton had gone to a dermatologist for acne treatment, and Blue Cross incorrectly interpreted a word on her chart to mean that the acne was precancerous.

Not long into the investigation, the insurer canceled her policy. Beaton, they said, had listed her weight incorrectly when she bought it, and had also failed to disclose that she'd once taken medicine for a heart condition -- which she hadn't been taking at the time she filled out the application. By October, thanks to an intervention from her member of Congress, Blue Cross reinstated Beaton's insurance coverage. But the tumor she had removed had grown 2 centimeters in the meantime, and she had to have her lymph nodes removed as well as her breasts amputated because of the delay.

-- In October 2008, Michael Napientak, a doorman from Clarendon Hills, Ill., went to the hospital for surgery to relieve agonizing back pain. His wife's employer's insurance provider, a subsidiary of UnitedHealthCare, had issued a pre-authorization for the operation. The operation went well. But in April, the insurer started sending notices that it wouldn't pay for the surgery, after all; the family, not the insurance provider, would be on the hook for the $148,000 the hospital charged for the procedure. Pre-authorization, the insurance company explained, didn't necessarily guarantee payment on a claim would be forthcoming. The company offered shifting explanations for why it wouldn't pay -- first, demanding proof that Napientak had tried less expensive measures to relieve his pain, and then, when he provided it, insisting that it lacked documentation for why the surgery was medically necessary. Napientak's wife, Sandie, asked her boss to help out, but with no luck. Fortunately for the Napientaks, they were able to attract the attention of a Chicago Tribune columnist before they had to figure out how to pay the six-figure bill -- once the newspaper started asking questions, the insurer suddenly decided, "based on additional information submitted," to cover the tab, after all.

-- David Denney was less than a year old when he was diagnosed in 1995 with glutaric acidemia Type 1, a rare blood disorder that left him severely brain damaged and unable to eat, walk or speak without assistance. For more than a decade, Blue Cross of California -- his parents' insurance company -- paid the $1,200 weekly cost to have a nurse care for him, giving him exercise and administering anti-seizure medication.

But in March 2006, Blue Cross told the Denney family their claims had exceeded the annual cost limit for his care. When they wrote back, objecting and pointing out that their annual limit was higher, the company changed its mind -- about the reason for the denial. The nurse's services weren't medically necessary, the insurers said. His family sued, and the case went to arbitration, as their policy allowed. California taxpayers, meanwhile, got stuck with the bill -- after years of paying their own premiums, the Denney family went on Medi-Cal, the state's Medicaid system.

-- Patricia Reilling opened an art gallery in Louisville, Ky., in 1987, and three years later took out an insurance policy for herself and her employees. Her insurance provider, Anthem Health Plans of Kentucky, wrote to her this June, telling her it was canceling her coverage -- a few days after it sent her a different letter detailing the rates to renew for another year and billing her for July.

Reilling thinks she knows the reason for the cutoff, though -- she was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2008. That kicked off a year-long battle with Anthem. First the company refused to pay for an MRI to locate the tumors, saying her family medical history didn't indicate she was likely to have cancer. Eventually, it approved the MRI, but only after she'd undergone an additional, painful biopsy. Her doctor removed both of her breasts in April 2008. In December, she went in for reconstructive plastic surgery -- and contracted a case of MRSA, an invasive infection. In January of this year, Reilling underwent two more surgeries to deal with the MRSA infection, and she's likely to require another operation to help fix all the damage. The monthly bill for her prescription medicines -- which she says are mostly generics -- is $2,000; the doctors treating her for the MRSA infection want $280 for each appointment, now that she's lost her insurance coverage. When she appealed the decision to cancel her policy, asking if she could keep paying the premium and continue coverage until her current course of treatment ends, the insurers wrote back with yet another denial. But they did say they hoped her health improved.

A Libertarian’s View of The Issues
By: Andrew the Electrician
March 11, 2010

Abortion: The 5th Amendment of the Bill of Rights of the Constitution says that “No person…,nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;…” This means ALL Americans have that right. When a doctor performs an abortion, it stops a beating human heart in the name of selfishness. Mr. Obama claimed that 45,000 people die each year from a lack of health insurance and used this to sell his takeover. The CDC reported 820,151 abortions were performed in 2005. Why doesn't Mr. Obama cry out over that horrendous number? Furthermore, abortion promotes sexual irresponsibility and will never have a good outcome in society. To summarize; abortion is murder of an innocent, defenseless human life and should be a crime. As far as the mother’s right to choose; she has that right until her choice infringes on someone else’s rights, especially the innocent and defenseless.

Agriculture: The government has way too much control in this area. If the government gets out of the way local farmers will thrive again. Stop the subsidies. Let the farmers farm their own land the way they want to.

Budget: Spending over the last 40 years, and the social programs, has bankrupted this great country. The politicians on BOTH sides have been extremely irresponsible with our Treasury. Government shall not spend more than it takes in. (Fiscal Responsibility) I would go a step further and say that government should be required to have a surplus of at least 1/3 of the GDP.

Campaign Finance: The law shall be made to provide the sole influence on any servant of the people, in any branch of government, are the people themselves as stated in the Constitution. Lobbyists and special interests shall not be allowed to influence legislation under any circumstance.

Congressional Term Limits: No representative or senator in congress shall serve more than 2 terms. This will end the “Washington Elite” mentality and congress will better serve the will of the people, not the special interest and lobbyist.

Economy: America is a Free Market Economy. There is too much government involvement and it has crippled the system. The “handcuffs” shall be removed in order for our system to thrive once more. It has been more than 100 years since our free market has truly been free. It shall be free again or We The People’s Liberty is truly dead. It isn’t a coincidence that 100 years ago we were 70% manufacturing and 30% consumers. Now, the opposite is fact. We are 70% consumers and 30% manufacturing. No nation can survive under this economic condition. To permanently repair the economy, government shall get out of the way for manufacturing to be restored.

Education: This is another area where the Federal government has too much involvement. In being so involved, they have control of the indoctrination of our children. The Federal government shall not have such control of our children. It shall be governed at the county level, with minimum state standards, according to the will people residing in that county. This will require the people in each county to become involved and exponentially raise the quality of learning.

Energy: Nuclear energy is the most cost efficient and clean source of energy and should be explored further. We should get government out of the way and work toward energy independence from foreign sources. The United States of America shall be an energy sovereign nation.

Environment: The environment shall be preserved at the state/local level, not the federal level. Stop the spending.

Ethics: The politicians who have been in Washington over the last 40 years, with the exception of a few, have been a travesty. They have run this great country into the ground. It’s time to throw the bums out and replace them with people with honor and integrity who will restore this great Republic. Those who have broken the law shall be held to the highest letter of the law. No quarter/mercy shall be given.

Foreign Affairs: Get our military heroes out of ALL foreign lands and bring them home to provide for the common defense of our shores. Increase funding to the CIA and NSA to prevent terror attacks and become proactive. Increase diplomatic relations to work toward economic recovery. Since WWII America has advanced democracy through various methods including war. This shall not be the case any longer. The best way to advance freedom in the world is by example. Fix our country first, and the world will follow suit.

Gay Marriage: The 5th Amendment of the Bill of Rights of the Constitution says that “No person…,nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;…” This means ALL Americans have that right. Even though I am not gay, I believe the Bill of Rights of the Constitution, that I love and respect, gives them the same rights as me! However, when they start forcing their beliefs on me and my children, they cross the line thereby infringing on my and my children’s rights. The same can be said about my beliefs. I will not force my beliefs on them.

Gun Control: “If guns kill people, then I’m going to blame all my misspelled words on my pencil!”-Larry the Cable Guy. This is funny, but true. The 2nd amendment has been trampled on by liberals over the last 40 years. All legislation at the federal, state and local levels that has been made regarding gun control is unconstitutional and shall be repealed and/or void. The second amendment shall be upheld. If someone shoots another person in cold blood, and has no other convictions, the minimum sentence is 15 to life. That means they will be eligible for release in 12 years (80% rule). If the punishment is changed to a real life sentence with no chance of release, or even death, then criminals will definitely think twice before pulling the trigger. It's just common sense. Don't control the gun, deter the thoughts that lead to violence. Gun control has not worked.

Healthcare: It is a choice to purchase health insurance, not a right. Government shall not takeover, or compete against, our free market. A government takeover of the private sector is tyranny and violates the Constitution! There are many great ideas that have been proposed to reform the free market healthcare industry. Those options should be implemented, not governmental tyranny with oppressive control.

Homeland Security: Shall be required to secure our land borders and travel borders against foreign threats and intruders. Nothing more.

National Defense: The constitution is clear on this issue. We have the greatest military in the world and it needs to stay that way. Our military shall not be deployed unless congress declares war. End of discussion.

Social Security: It’s no secret, the system is grossly broken. Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security are all bankrupt. The baby boomers will start collecting soon. That means the system will be further bankrupt. Therefore, from this year forward, any person under the age of 30 will no longer be subject to the Social Security system and/or the taxes associated with it. Persons with incapacitating disabilities and the elderly will keep their benefits. Persons over the age of 30 shall now be allowed to save money for retirement, and other social issues, tax free.

States Rights: The 10th Amendment shall be restored.

Taxation: The current “progressive” tax system is grossly flawed and easily abused. A new “conservative” tax system shall be implemented for 2012. It includes a tax on all goods sold. The conservative tax will be tiered as not to “over tax” expensive goods. The conservative tax revenue generated shall be equal to, or greater than, the amount needed for fiscal responsibility to be achieved and/or surpassed. A surplus of 1/3 of the GDP shall be required for emergencies.

Veteran’s Affairs: They are our military heroes. They have protected our Constitutional freedoms. They should be treated accordingly. All effort shall be made to honor their sacrifice.

Thank you for listening,
Andrew the Electrician

At this point, its safe to say that Americans, by a significant majority, feel as though they have stepped through the Looking Glass (and want badly to step back out.) Mainstream network news says otherwise, of course, but network news is also a BIG loser in all of this. CBS and ABC are cutting back, closing bureaus, laying off staff. Yet the talking heads - mathews, oberman, couric, et al. - continue to espouse this propaganda, recycling it all to a fifth-grade level. They do this because that is what they are paid to do, and their careers are too heavily invested in past lies for them to start telling the truth now. At this point, they can only be fired, and replaced with a fresh face, but the networks havent cultivated any fresh faces that can credibly reverse course, and start broadcasting the truth. Even if a network was so inclined, and I've seen little evidence of THAT.

So the bottom line is there's a lot of pro-obama noise, a lot of pro-obama visuals and photo-ops, a lot of pro-obama forum posts and talk-radio callers (relatively, anyways), BUT .... the polling numbers arent "there" anymore. Not in ANY poll. Obama just hit a new, all-time low in the Rasmussen poll. He's around -21, or somewhere near there.

The dems have created a mess of the economy, AND of their own legislative process. So much so that not only are they losing seats, but many are simply retiring at the end of their terms. And wouldnt you? Given, for example, that you are BOTH a liberal Democrat AND an American, would YOU want any part of what Obama has brought to Washington?

This has to be cleaned up in November. We all have to vote. Dont worry about outlawing the Democratic party. They've already destroyed the value of their market brand.

"And," she immediately added, "President Obama has said the bill is deficit neutral."

You get the picture.

I wonder, on occasion, how many of our representatives ARE in fact, flat-out intimidated by the Obama administration. Obama acorns have forced their way into homes, assaulted reporters, promoted prostitution, and advised on tax evasion strategies. Obama advisers have assaulted reporters. Rahm Emmanuel intimidated Massa, and who knows who else. These people are southside thugs from the City of Chicago. If they have any limits whatsoever, I'd like to know what they are, and what evidence exists to support that.

Hagan and my rep, Brad Miller, will be back - PRESUMABLY - for the Congressional break. During the break last august, Miller cancelled his appearances, claiming that someone had threatened his life. As far as I know, he made two, unannounced appearances - one "town hall" of some sort, another at a senior citizens gathering.

Your guess is as good as mine. But I know this: this healthcare bill WILL be killed, sooner or later, and this bill is a litmus test for me. Electoral politics are a sham. The media have been debased and defanged by corporate owners. The working class has been impoverished and is now being plunged into profound despair. The legal system has been corrupted to serve corporate interests. Popular institutions, from labor unions to political parties, have been destroyed or emasculated by corporate power. And any form of protest, no matter how tepid, is blocked by an internal security apparatus that is starting to rival that of the East German secret police. The mounting anger and hatred, coursing through the bloodstream of the body politic, make violence and counter-violence inevitable. Brace yourself. The American empire is over. And the descent is going to be horrifying.

Those singled out as internal enemies will include people of color, immigrants, gays, intellectuals, feminists, Jews, Muslims, union leaders and those defined as “liberals.” They will be condemned as anti-American and blamed for our decline. The economic collapse, which remains mysterious and enigmatic to most Americans, will be pinned by demagogues and hatemongers on these hapless scapegoats. And the random acts of violence, which are already leaping up around the fringes of American society, will justify harsh measures of internal control that will snuff out the final vestiges of our democracy. The corporate forces that destroyed the country will use the information systems they control to mask their culpability. The old game of blaming the weak and the marginal, a staple of despotic regimes, will empower the dark undercurrents of sadism and violence within American society and deflect attention from the corporate vampires that have drained the blood of the country.

http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/calling_all_rebels_20100308/

That’s raising concerns among fishermen that their favorite fishing holes may soon be off-limits for bait-casting. In the battle of incremental change that epitomizes the American conservation movement, many weekend anglers fear that the Obama administration’s promise to “fundamentally change” water management in the US will erode what they call the public’s “right to fish,” in turn creating economic losses for the $82 billion recreational fishing industry and a further deterioration of the American outdoorsman’s legacy. Proponents say the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force established by President Obama last June will ultimately benefit the fishing public by managing ecosystems in their entirety rather than by individual uses such as fishing, shipping, or oil exploration. “It’s not an environmentalist manifesto,” says Larry Crowder, a marine biologist at Duke University in North Carolina. “It’s multiple-use planning for the environment, and making sure various uses … are sustainable.” (Amateur outdoorsmen have been fighting for their rights for years, as the Monitor reports here.)

http://news.yahoo.com/s/csm/20100309/ts_csm/286232

http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/saltwater/news/story?id=4975762

This is a column from Robert Montgomery for ESPN Outdoors. You far-left stooge.

My guess is you are some 20-something college-boy parroting The Party Line.

Here's non-Progressive history:

1) for you hairless porsche-driving "radicals" who havent read the bible as a mere historical document, the late-breaking news is that Israel originally ruled the area up to 2000 years ago. The country was then conquered, and ceased to exist. When adolph and his National Socialist Party (Nazis) lost THEIR war of aggression against the allies, homeless jews returned to the region, which was then administered by the British. Faced again with extermination - this time "administrative extermination", as paperless and homeless refugees - the jews engaged in a violent campaign to re-establish Israel, which was in fact formally re-established by your god-almighty-horsehit one-world governing body known as the United Nations.

In a word, the indigenous and aboriginal population triumphed over centuries of world oppression.

2) The rag-heads never accepted the partitioning of the land, and fail to recognize Israel - and its right to exist - to this very day. Two serious wars have ensued, both involving Egypt. Egypt was led by Gamel Abdul Nasser during the 1967 war, and was heavily - HEAVILY - backed by the then-commie Soviet Union, who had massively armed Nasser with Soviet tanks, for the express purpose of invading Israel, which Nasser subsequently undertook, only to learn that armored columns are subordinat to superior air power, which Israel had in abundance. This lesson was taught again in 1973, following the surprise attack by Egypt on Yon Kippur. The Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War involved Israels immediate neighbors Syria and Egypt. As a result of these wars of aggression perpetrated against a nation chartered by the United Nations, initiated by aggressors who fail to recognize the validity of the charter by this "one-world governing body", Israel occupied the Sinai desert between Israel and Egypt, and the Golan Heights overlooking Damascus, Syria.

Israel does not, as a matter of history and fact, engage in imperialist wars of aggression. Sorry, whatever you've been taught just isnt true.

They annex pursuant to victory. Annexation further secures a State that must win EVERY war in order to survive. The national policy can be summarized as "Start a war, pay a price."

Israel, for all of its faults, remains a good friend and a reliable ally of the United States in the mideast. Those who wish to weaken US influence in the mideast will seek to weaken the relationship between the US and Israel.

whatever they need to secure their borders is fine with me. Including some rag-head, Muslim terrorist ghettos in East Jerusalem.

And no, I am NOT a jew. But you nazis, commies, and progressives can feel welcome to call me "jew lover." Having access to the internet provides a means to read different points of view and communicate with others to share thoughts, etc. The Internet was initially a development of the government and developed through scientist-communication intellectuals and researchers. Allowing corporations full control of its content and its access is of great concern. I was able to access the early Internet in the 1980s without an Internet Provider...free. Today access is provided by a few competing providers for relatively expensive fees other than the few telephone providers at a lower cost and limited access. This was posted on the Coffee Party's website, lol. They are speaking about the Coffee Party. Enjoy this person's sensible views:

I am a liberal but more of an independent lefty open to any ideas that make sense and solve problems. So far all I am seeing on this site is 99% typical same ole' far left talking points and the same old name calling of anything right of far left. As a moderate I see posts telling me that I am the problem. What is diverse or new about that?

The current discourse I am reading seems as closed minded as some of the Republicans are to our ideas. How does that promote "open and respectful dialogue" as described in the mission statement put forth by Annabel ? How is that change? So what is different about the coffee party than any other far left blog site? I can get this same stuff at the Huntington Post.

I for one am just as upset with the Democrats who controlled both house and senate yet got nothing done. We are still in Iraq. We still have Gitmo. Obama just re-approved the patriot act. We have exploded the debt and I do not see much in the way of jobs in my town and my home value is crap. Obama has so many people on his staff formerly from Goldman Sachs yet we believe him when he says he is not influenced by special interests or is it because he is one of us and so we think he is not playing favors to wall street just like the last President?? Where is the change he promised me?

Why then do we blame the Republicans and call them obstructionists or worse and I see no criticism of the Democrats we elected that have actually had the power of both houses even in the last years of Bush?? I think to be legitimate we need to look at ourselves in the mirror and realize the Democrats share about half the blame in the mess that is government that can not get any solutions passed. Seems both sides use the same political tactics and lack of cooperation when the other is in power. Both sides seem more interested in getting re elected then doing what is right and what the people want. I see special interest groups affecting legislation of both parties so why is it wrong for Republicans and OK for us?

As one example, I am a Physician and see the tremendous cost of frivolous lawsuits on practicing medicine - hell - on everything in America- so though I realize that the American Bar Association is one of our strongest supporters of our politicians, I still think we can find a common sense way to discourage lawyers for bringing non-legitimate suits against well intentioned Doctors. Yet we will not put any such ideas in the health care bills or the idea is simply dismissed- why is that different then them? We should do anything to create a cost efficient health system regardless of which party claims the idea.

Are we that blinded by love and naivety that we think that all Democrat politicians are good and well intentioned and the other side is all bad? If we do think that way, then the coffee party will never change anything and the mission statement put forth is a joke unless we are truly willing to listen to all ideas and by any sense of logic, accept that the solution always lies within a compromise and collaboration of ideas.

***I'm a conservative, and I say this person is right! THE REAL PROBLEM ARE THE LAWYERS AND SPECIAL INTEREST GROUPS, not the Republicans, not the Democrats! It's long past time for Americans to unite and take this country back!

Brainwashed by Corporate Media that uses the government as its instrument to protect and increase their profits on the backs of the taxpayer-workers.

The Progressive Movement resulted in many government run programs that protect the safety and economic survival of American citizens. Each time there were many people brainwashed to believe it a plot to to undermine American Democracy (what little there is left of it, since corporations control/ 'own' a large number of the Senators and Congressman and until President Obama they controlled the Presidency ). After passing New Deal legislation against the powerful corporate opposition the U.S. provided a safety net for the elderly with a very modest retirement benefit package called Social Security. There were jobs programs for the massive unemployment/desperation within the U.S. New laws were enacted to limit (did not end) Child exploitation by corporations, housing regulations to provide some protection against unfit housing, wage rules and limits on worker exploitation and abuse, there were health/safety regulations for the work place. Eventually decades later a health insurance program called Medicare and Medicaid were instituted to help provide for the elderly and the children living in poverty. The U.S. still remained a capitalist driven society with these government run programs. President Obama advocates a reform of healthcare as a necessitiy to insure that all people regardless of income have access to preventative and intervention healthcare. It is necessary to promote a healthy economy as well. The U.S. cannot afford to allow its citizens to spend most of their income on health insurance as will happen if these reforms are not made NOW. I and most other Americans have had enough of corporate control of their lives and want the government to intervene as it has done in the past to protect our interests and the future of our children.

That $3500 deductible plan with 20% co-insurance is alot better than going broke. Latest numbers for "myocardial infarction" or "heart attack" and being hospitalized because of such, costs on average $45,000. Now, with that shitty BCBSNC policy that you refer to, including the max out-of-pocket, you'd owe $5500. That leaves $39,500 that BCBSNC is liable for. If you wanted to include the price of premium for one year at $120, that would be $1440. $1440+$5500=$6940. So, you've spent a whopping $6940 to save your life and not become bankrupt beyond repair. You have a credit card with that much debt on it so why do you care? Just another monthly payment. You could buy a much better policy for $300 a month, but being insurance savvy and realizing that heart attacks don't happen that often you bet on the higher deductible to save cash monthly. You assumed risk (responsibility) by purchasing the higher deductible. If Obama gets his way do you think that you won't have a deductible? You could get that $120 policy for about $250 then, he may call it a Cadillac plan and you could be taxed additionally as well. The point being that you had a choice.

I believe that before you "think" that this "plan" is the answer, that you read it....then you, my commrade, will want to kiss it goodbye as well.

The proposed tort reform wouldn't prevent lawyers from suing. It will prevent frivolous litigation. My dad was a doctor. He retired in '92 and HATED lawyers with a passion. He wouldn't even play golf with one. Back then, he paid the same amount in malpractice insurance premium as he paid himself. I can only imagine what they're paying now? Why are malpractice premiums so high? Lawyers who sue for any little thing they can, that's why. Who pays for that ultimately? The consumer. It's common sense economics.

Now those same lawyers, who made their fortunes suing the insurance companies, are in congress trying even harder to tear the system apart.

The proposed tort reforms would require a ruling from the medical board that malpractice occured, before a lawsuit could be filed, and limit damages paid to reasonable amounts. Proposed tax cuts for the middle class account for nearly a third of that shortfall.

The 10-year outlook released by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office is somewhat gloomier than White House projections, which found that Obama's budget request would produce deficits that would add about $8.5 trillion to the national debt by 2020.

The CBO and the White House are in relative agreement about the short-term budget picture, with both predicting a deficit of about $1.5 trillion this year -- a post-World War II record at 10.3 percent of the overall economy -- and $1.3 trillion in 2011. But the CBO is considerably less optimistic about future years, predicting that deficits would never fall below 4 percent of the economy under Obama's policies and would begin to grow rapidly after 2015.

Deficits of that magnitude would force the Treasury to continue borrowing at prodigious rates, sending the national debt soaring to 90 percent of the economy by 2020, the CBO said. Interest payments on the debt would also skyrocket by $800 billion over the same period.

Obama's tax-cutting agenda is by far the biggest contributor to those budget gaps, the CBO said. As part of his campaign pledge to protect families making less than $250,000 a year from new taxes, the president is proposing to prevent the alternative minimum tax from expanding to ensnare millions of additional taxpayers. He also wants to make permanent a series of tax cuts enacted during the Bush administration, which are scheduled to expire at the end of this year.

"Over the next 10 years, those policies would reduce revenues and boost outlays for refundable tax credits by a total of $3.0 trillion," wrote Douglas W. Elmendorf, the CBO director. Combined with interest payments on that shortfall, the tax cuts account for the entire increase in deficits that would result from Obama's proposals.

Obama is convening a special commission to bring deficits down to 3 percent of the economy, but the CBO report shows that Obama could accomplish that goal simply by letting the Bush tax cuts expire and paying for changes to the alternative minimum tax.

Other policy changes, such as Obama's signature health-care initiative and a plan to dramatically expand the federal student loan program, would have significant effects on the budget, Elmendorf wrote, but they generally would be paid for and therefore would not drive deficits higher.
