Small Kennel is large enough to fit a young or small lab. But is most properly sized for a cocker spaniel. ($30) Large Kennel is large enough to fit a 27" tall dog as it fits my 27" Rottweiler, but she doesn't need it anymore. <![CDATA[I have a spayed, female Beagle, approximately 9+ years old. She weighs 27-32 lbs. She is a very sweet, loving dog. She is up to date on her shots, and is healthy, for her age. She does fine with our other dog, which is a Yorkie. She is not a bayer. She hardly ever barks. While she is an inside dog, she would be much better suited to be an outside dog. The most important thing, is that she go to a compassionate, patient and loving family/person. Her back does go out sometimes, therefore, we do not let her on the furniture. We don't want her jumping. She needs to be somewhere she can have access to a doggie door (if she is kept inside). She is not a hunter. Though, like all Beagles, she does like to track, occasionally. You say he's 3.5 years old, so you've had him for awhile, and now he has a miserable life because of the dogs yet HE has to go. So very sad for him that he never made it into your heart and you have never made a commitment to him. He has done nothing wrong, yet he will likely end up dead or in a sad situation. There are way more cats than dogs looking for homes, and way more cats than dogs that are in shelters and die in shelters every day. I just don't understand why he is the second class citizen, and the dogs that came after him get priority. Losing his home and being cast off because of newcomers. How sad is that. I had a really, really rough start to life and things are finally looking up for me. See, I was born, well I don't really remember the first four months, but one day I woke up in a shelter in Chapel Hill lost and confused. I wanted to trust the people there but I just wasn't sure so I just hid in the back of my kennel. My first foster mom saw the glitter in my eyes and gave me a new chance at life. When I first was pulled from the shelter I was scared of everything but my foster momma worked through things with me and trained me into a good boy. I was adopted out and they thought I was going to stay a medium sized dog, but my body have different, taller, plans for me and I became a little too much for their kids to handle. When I returned to 2PawsUp it was clear I needed some obedience training and training to help me deal with being such a big, goofy dog! I graduated from Darwin K9's program and now have a total new outlook on life. I listen to my people and know several commands. They taught me how to walk well on a leash and not throw my human around and helped me trust other dogs more. I like to be the top dog in charge but I have found many friends along the way that I enjoy spending time with, we like to wrestle and play when we get the chance to hang out in daycare. They say I am picky about who my friends are, but each day I tolerate more and more. My training has turned me from a goofy ole hound mix to a well behaved gentleman searching for a new home. I would do well with a dog smaller than me that doesn't mind that I think I am top dog. I've never really been around cats so I would prefer a home without. WE ARE DESPERATELY SEARCHING FOR LOVING FAMILIES/INDIVIDUALS TO HELP US!!! puppy season has started early and these poor animals are dying every minute, every day...it is very sad. I had my ear cropped when I was spayed, but it is hardly noticeable. I stay inside at night, but still go out & play during the day. My mom wants me to be an indoor kity only because of my safety. She'll tolerate brushing with a soft brush, but it's not her favorite activity. She loves her kitty perch near the window where she can lie in the curve of the shelf and view the world from her window. Olivia loves to play and she is great with other dogs. Our other dog is over 60lbs and she does very well with him. She is also great with little kids. Olivia is energetic and needs a home where she can play and get lots of attention. Olivia has had her 7 week puppy shot for distemper/parvo/bordetella. Though he was raised with dogs initially so I did not anticipate this difficulty, he has not been able to transition to the addition of two larger rescued pups who joined the family about 8 months ago. He deserves a better life with the right new owner then hiding upstairs most of the time! Mylo might do OK with older kids and/or another non-aggressive cat. We are trying to do right by him by finding him another home because during the day, he has to stay on a tether outside and it makes him miserable. He is a great dog, good with kids and other dogs, and okay with cats. He loves to run and play, and will chase squirrels all day long if you let him. He does okay indoors, but doesn't like to stay inside for long. Max is very protective, he will growl and bark at strangers, so when you meet him, it will take a few minutes for him to warm up, but after that, he will be all over you. You will have to remind him to use his manners and not jump and try to lick you. Kids are his forte, I have 4 children, 6 and younger, and he can't get enough attention from them. The information is from a volunteer who has been caring for Zora and thinks she is wonderful. Zora is a beautiful black and white "low-rider" American Staffy mix with teddy-bear soft fur. <![CDATA[Please meet "Mirra", a little Jack-Russel (Greyhound/ Boxer??!)- Mix. This girl had a rough start in life- but you would never guess. She was found as a tiny puppy next to I-95, nearly starved. Some really nice people picked her up and she ended up with an older Lady who took the very best care of her, took her to the Vet and helped her become the cute little girl you can see in the pictures. She currently weighs 28 pounds, but being 8-9 month already, this will most likely be her final weight. She has long legs and is very athletic and smart. UTD on everything, even spayed. She is enrolled in the Banfield Wellness Plan, meaning all her regular Vet visits will be covered for 6 more month. Free office visits during that time as well! She gets along great with other dogs, once she gets to know them and loves to play. So she could easily be placed in a home with another friendly dog. Until recently she did not know children at all, but she is learning to not be startled by them. No aggression though- just a little insecure. But she is curious and warms up quickly! At night she still sleeps in her crate- with no complaints. <![CDATA[We just found out that we must move very soon and unfortunately we can't take our kitties! Jack is an orange tabby about 5 -6 years old. Twix is a Siamese mix about 8-9 years old. They can go to separate homes as we adopted them years apart. It would be nice if they went together! ^_^ They've both been handled by kids and only Jack is vocal about it. Twix is merely too ladylike to protest. They do /not/ like dogs and may (if done correctly) get along with other cats. They will each come with carriers and litter boxes. If you can take both, I will gift you litter and food! I am willing to deliver them as well. <![CDATA[Sweetheart is a 2 year old lab mix who has been waiting PATIENTLY FOR THE PAST 61 DAYS for her second chance at life. SHE REALLY NEEDS A BREAK FROM THE SHELTER ENVIRONMENT. Sweetheart loves going for walks with our dog walking volunteers. Her favorite thing to do is to hold a tennis ball in her mouth while on her walk. She also waits for you to kick the ball for her so she can chase it! Sometimes, because it's been such a long time at the shelter, she just needs to let loose & chew on the tennis ball, which is helping her to let off some kennel stress. She responds well to praise, and a firm "NO" will work if she needs to be corrected. She is HEARTWORM POSITIVE, but this can be treated by a SLOW-KILL method of monthly heartworm treatment, which she would be getting routinely anyway (about $8 a month). He is just over a year old and weighs approx 55-60 pounds and is now in the "New leash On Life" Prison Program where he is being trained in Obedience and some Agility, he will be in this program for 8 wks. and then on the day of graduation he can go home with his new owners. He is located at Bladen County Correctional Facility (Elizabethtown , N.C.) he has only been there for on wk. but has already learned so much and will continue to learn. This is a wonderful program where the inmates actually train the dogs, there is a professional trainer from Fayetteville that goes to the Prison and helps with the training. He is neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm free and on monthy heartworm, housetrained and cratetrained. <![CDATA[Phoenix is a very lucky boy, he was rescued from the back yd. tied to a pole, the chain so tangled that he couldn't move more than a foot, no food/water, no house and so cold that day that he could only stand and shiver from being cold. A nice lady actually knocked on the door and ask for the lady to surender him to her and she did. Now He is in the "New Leash On Life" Prison Program where he is in Obedience Training and some Agility. He has only been at the prison for one wk. and has learned very fast and still have 7 more wks. to go. The inmates are the ones that are doing the training and there is a Certified Trainer from Fayetteville that comes to the prison and helps with the training. <![CDATA[Cobalt is a super sweet boy, he is around a year old, is up to date on shots and has been neutered. He is house broken and knows basic commands. He is a wonderful boy, he just has some special needs. He is afraid of new people and it takes him a while to warm up, and he does better with women than with men. He was a rescue pup, and I love him dearly. I'm just in a bad situation right now and I don't know what else to do. I have been staying with family and she is terrified of dogs bigger than 5 pounds, and he is 35-40. I have no idea what kind of mix he is, maybe australian shepherd, hound, pit mix? He has an awesome personality and is such a sweetheart if you get to know him. She makes him stay locked up in a crate all the time on her enclosed back porch, and because of that he gets restless and barks to be let out and the barking gets to her. Its a vicious cycle that I don't know how to end. If anyone can help in any way, please let me know. She has started putting weight back on, and is looking better. She is also house trained and knows how to fetch. I am sure she belonged to someone, but I have tried to find the owner with no luck. So now I am looking for either an adoptive home or a rescue group that can take her. She is food aggressive with other dogs, but doesn't mind me being around when she eats. Each day I volunteer I go with her and she climbs into my lap curl up and goes to sleep. Mimi loves people and will shower them with kisses and affection. Today I started working with her on some commands and she picked up sit in just minutes, she's smart. Mimi has been overlooked because she has a condition called "cherry eye", in one of her eyes. She will need to have it looked at by a vet for treatment options. Because of this I have sponsored part of her adoption fee so that her fee is now only $70 and will include her spay surgery, vaccines, microchip and much more.
