<![CDATA[I've got a 1979 Kramer DMZ6000B bass that needs some help. It's got active electronics, with a pre-amp. The guts are a mess as it's been butchered by a previous owner. This is old technology and I'm not really looking to update it. I'd like to keep the instrument as original as possible but just get it working. I have not had any luck locating any schematics although that's still a work in progress. Anyone know a good guitar mechanic? I'm looking for an established group that is looking for someone to lay it down solid. If you're looking for a drummer who understands the importance of dynamics and pocket, and is much more interested in getting the crowd moving and heads bobbing than he is in playing flashy fills within every hole, than I might be your guy. I don't mind if the group is original or covers...been there/done that with both. I don't mind if the genre is blues or country or rock....done em all. What I care about is that there are musicians who play proficiently at a high level, have respect for one another, and are fun to work with at rehearsal, in the studio, and in live settings. <![CDATA[ Whats up fellow artists? I'm writing this post in search of other musicians that would like to join me on a project. I'll start by saying I'm in my 30's and while that may sound old to some in there 20's i'm sure it sounds young to those in there 40's and up. While age sucks theres nothing we can do about it and besides there is one advantage and thats experience.Just a thought.lol Now for the meat and potatoes. I am a guitarist that really wants to form a band with the intentions of writing good progressive metal along the lines of Rush with a metal edge or lets say Tool with more acoustics or Alice in Chains with more complex musical parts. My style or level of ability could be considered along the lines of Adam Jones(Tool) or maybe more like Alex Lifeson(Rush). I'm not the craziest or flashiest player but I have a style and am more concerned with writing great thought provoking music that is challenging for the players but versatile for a singer. The music should have basic elements of groove, rhythm, melody and the subject matter as far as wlyrics should be thought provoking and yet deep or personal. I'm looking for a drummer with the likes of a Neil Pert, Danny Carry, or Mike Portnoy. I'm looking for a bassist the likes of Geddy Lee, Les Claypool, or Paul D'Amour I'm not completely opposed to a second guitar player but It's an issue that I want to tackle with input from the others in the band . And lastly the singer. This is obviously the toughest part. What I would really like is an Eddie Vedder or Maynard Jmaes Keenan tone and style that has some experience writing lyrics and who has a vision. Don't we all.lol Someone who understands how to feel the music and let it influence there ideas. I beleive the music is 50% and the singing and subject matter is the other 50%. This puts alot of pressure on a singer but I beleive it to be the way it goes. Dream Theater : love the music but the singer and his voice ,well out of respect lets just say I would love them if they had Maynard. Rush : I love Geddy as I grew up on it but the voice is out of date and too nasally for today. You get the point. As far as backup vocals I'm not too concerned and don't really care one way or the other. If you can sing backup cool but not an issue. I have great song ideas but need to collaborate with others that have a strong lyrical talent so experience with lyrics is a definite weak point for me and a major plus if you have alot of talent there. More so a singers problem to me but I guess that attitude is why 'm not so good. Like I said I have alot of awesome ideas. Lastly, I want to addressthat I'm not concerned with hurrying up and playing out. I want to concentrate on writing and screw the pressure. I'm down to earth and patient so don't respond if you are all about "getting out there" hence the term "project"...............We'll get there if we get there. <![CDATA[I teach guitar, bass guitar and piano at the Neighborhood Academy of Music in Clayton, Amazing Tone Music in Falls River Town Center on Durant Rd and Accelerando Music Academy in Knightdale. Currently, I have openings for new students who are wanting to increase their musical skills on guitar, bass and piano or others who want to begin their first lessons. I have designed & developed my own materials for guitar (sheets & accompanying CD) which guide students in practicing chord progressions (as relate in musical key), strum/rhythm patterns, scales/melodies in relation to chords and reading music notation. Students that can not read music notation begin simple reading exercises of note recognition, time signatures, note values, eye hand coordination and more. As guitar students advance, they learn the basic open chord forms, power chords and bar chords and soloing techniques. Students learn the notes on the fretboard and the scales that will give students the understanding to play lead guitar over chord progressions. And, students learn songs of their choice as they learn the skills to play these songs. My students have shown much success in these methods of concentrating on developing that essential sense & feel for playing different rhythm styles. Piano instruction is centered on learning to read music notation and music theory as it relates to the student's progress. I am a graduate of Music Education with 23 years teaching experience. My students range in ages from 6 to 55, and I have students at the very beginning of musical studies & others who are playing advanced techniques in folk, country, rock, blues, and classical music. My Lesson Rates in Clayton are $23 for 30 min., $30 for 45 min. & $38 for 60 min. My Lesson rates at Amazing Tone Music are $24 for 30 min, $33 for 45 min & $42 for 60 min. Lesson rates at Accelerano Music Academy begin at $25 for 30 min. As many music schools and acadamies require a contract, I do not. I do ask for a months notice prior to ending of lessons.
