I'm working on a musical project, and I'm in need of some volunteers to record vocals to my songs. This is what I have so far: http://www.facebook.com/steepedinsable (also http://www.purevolume.com/steepedinsable).
I can email you a song (guitar & drums) along with lyrics and suggested melodies if you're interested in recording the vocals.

Also, I think it'd be cool to have multiple versions of my songs, so if you'd like to do your rendition of one of the songs that I have posted already, let me know and I can send you the music without vocals.

I don't have a recording studio or any equipment, so you're on your own as far as recording goes. But I'm not expecting top-quality vocals or anything. A cheap microphone and a computer should work great. Let me know if you're interested!

it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests

I'm already involved with one project (it's just moving slower than expected) and I'm relatively picky as to what music I'll play. But I like dynamics; I like loud/quiet/loud (and yes, I love the Pixies); I like performance art and being the part; I like playing frequent shows; I like peaceful, non-dramatic, quasi-intellectual situations (but am not smart enough to consider myself a nerd); I like sobreity; I like the Gretsch guitar I just bought...I think that about covers it. I'm 34 and have been playing guitar seriously for over 20 years. I have an ear for music...I can hear something once and usually play it back entirely or find out where I fit in, as well as contribute feedback, if asked. I'm not into money, but I do want to make some doing what I love...I'm not even opposed to side-jobs, such as weddings, private parties, etc.

And the dreaded question...who are my influences? I usually forget most of them...but there's a difference in the music that raised me and the bands I listen to now. I loved the personality of Kurt Cobain, sure...do I want to be Nirvana? No. I strongly admire the Pixies (as well as the honorable Mr. Charles Thompson, individually); I typically tend to draw influence from "darker" sources, such as the Cure, the Church, earlier Depeche Mode. But I also enjoyed growing up listening to early Green Day (and I mean early), early Weezer (and I mean early) and most Seattle bands. I currently listen to many local bands (and like to support my friends)...and, here, I'll look through my iPod: Bon Iver, Bowerbirds, the Dead Milkmen, Fanfarlo, Foster the People (trendy but pretty great), Gayngs, Interpol, Iron & Wine, Jeff Buckley, Justin Beiber (I have a 6 year old girl), Kaki King, the Killers, the Lemonheads, Morrissey...blah, blah, blah...you get the idea. At this point, you're either interested or not. Call me (919) 308-5349 or email me. Thanks for your time.

Location: Durham, NC

it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests

SnareBuzz Studios is Raleigh's premier home-based studio, offering recordings with the sonic quality typically available only in commercial-based facilities. We offer recording, mixing, drum tracking, song development, and full production services typically priced on a per song or per project basis. We're not concerned with how many clients we can book in a month, or how many hours we'll spend developing an album...our sole concern is working with highly talented artists in a manner that captures their very best performances. We don't have a huge console and we don't have endless racks of analog gear...but we do offer recordings through LaChapell preamps fitted with Telefunken tubes if you want that round vintage tone, or through Shadow Hills Mono Gama preamps if you want solid state tone that varies from API-like cleanness to Neve-like vintage solid state tone. We have single channel optical compressors, VCA compressors, and stereo buss compressors all from Shadow Hills Industries...google them if you don't know about them..

If you really want to know about our sound & equipment more, check out the video link below...it'll tell you a lot in a short amount of time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wO8IEAdvsl8

If you like what you see/hear, please feel free to contact us to setup an appointment to discuss your project & your project needs directly.

I've just returned from a month of performing, studying and teaching in Senegal West Africa! It was an amazing experience to play music with so many wonderful traditional african griots. I also decided to pick up a new instrument while I was there, the Xalam which is the ancient ancestor of the banjo. But now that I'm home I'm itching to get back to teaching and creating new music here in the states. So please contact me if you're interested in Guitar Lessons in Carrboro. Howdy,

So I am a senior UNC student that plays guitar and sings and wants to find someone to collaborate with. Ideally, someone who plays guitar and sings (both is ideal, but just one or the other might work!) and would like to get together, make some music and eventually go out and mess around at some local open mics. I am an intermediate guitar player and a beginner singer but I have a great ear and know good music when I hear it. I am really passionate about singer-songwriters like James Taylor and Amos Lee for example but I enjoy basically any music with acoustic guitar from pop-rock-Jack Johnson stuff to jam-band-Dispatch stuff to folk music to country. Shoot me an email with a little about yourself if you're interested and if we vibe I'm ready to start getting together as soon as next week. Finally, I have a practice pass to Hill Hall on the UNC campus so we would have a convenient, neutral place to meet up if we decided to get together!

Thanks!

Location: Chapel Hill/Carrboro

it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests

Blues/jazz/country/ folk/rock guitarist looking for a female vocalist to sing in these styles, especially blues. Wanting to start with guitar and vocal and if we 'click' add other musicians and singers. Play open mikes to try out performance and songs, and develop from there. Considered setting- playing restaurants for 'atmosphere' music. Sample of artists' songs we can do- Neil Young, Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Beatles, Joss Stone & Jeff Beck, Melody Gardot, Duffy, SVR. Tom Petty & jazz/blues standards & maybe some originals
and songs by other current singers & groups.
I live in Clayton, but have music studios in Raleigh and Knightdale where I teach guitar for rehearsals. Please contact through CL email.

I have met and rehearsed with many singers and learned much in preparing songs for performance, but often they havn't been able to meet for rehearsals because of
other demands on their schedule and eventually having to stop meeting though having made good progress. I am an all around keyboardist that's well rounded in ALL types of music excluding jazz and classical.
I know hundreds of songs and I have a superb ear. I can learn any song very quickly. I can also sing, I have a booming baritone bluesy voice that fits in all sorts of music. I have an original band that does very well but, being original and artsy, doesn't pay the bills. So I'm looking for a band that does pay the bills. I enjoy playing all sorts of stuff from funk to punk and everything in between. The new F.o.G. cd, entitled "Diamond Dust" can be reviewed from our myspace page at http://www.myspace.com/efogee
We have 2 cd's out now, "F.O.G." and "Diamond Dust," featuring original music inspired by artists of the 1960's and 1970's. Until now, the band has counted on "guest" musicians to complete our albums, and the band would like to add permanent members so we could perform once or twice per month locally and promote our music. For the last 4 years, we have been 2 guys, composing, singing, playing guitars, bass and harmonica, recording and mixing our own music. F.o.G. is all about making great original music and having fun doing it.

The band is interested in adding a male tenor or female vocalist (preferably with some instrumental expertise) and a solid rhythm guitarist and drummer - to establish a permanent band to play local venues and to record some more albums. Currently, we are prepared to play out locally with our friends, if we have opportunities; but it would be fantastic to have an intact band. Alex and I are musicians in our 50's; but we're young at heart and do not discriminate based on age, nationality, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious preference, atheism, political affiliation, etc. Just bring a creative force and an open mind. If you like our music, if you can add your commitment and creativity to the mix, if you are sober and trust-worthy, a good communicator, easy to get along with, and if you are willing to invest your time and proportional finances toward promoting further albums and shows, we would like to meet with you.

If you've listened to our music and would like to schedule an audition, please respond to this email or call Bob at 919-477-5251.

Location: Durham, Henderson

it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests

Hi, my name is Cody, Rap name: Direck, and I am sending out emails to management companies who may be interested in working with me on a commission basis.
I currently have the strive, ambition, and spark to pursue my music talent but am lacking the direction of the music career living in Raleigh, NC.

Please review my website and info and return a reply if interested.
www.reverbnation.com/direck

BIO:
DIRECK
-Hip-Hop Artist Out of North Carolina-
The inspiring Hip-Hop artist, "Direck", also known as, Cody Allison, has always had a passion for music. Ever since he was a little kid, he always seemed to have a rhythm, and an ear for dancing at family weddings and gatherings. Starting at the age of 13, he started writing poems to vent the frustration of middle school life, and family dis-function in day to day life. As he matured, he received a drum-set for Christmas at the age of 14. After playing the drums for some time, he then turned to downloading beats and trying to fit the poems into each beat, realizing, that at that moment, he would not stop until prospering in a music career. Direck was well mentioned as a "young white rapper" by many of his classmates through high-school. At the age of 15, he was curious to see what his voice would sound like when recording, on his home computer. Using a cheap, computer headset, he then recorded his first song, (MikeJonesBeat:Sittin on 44's)that gave him the boost to write and learn even more. Everyday, he would sit in class with an extra pad and pencil handy, jotting down lyrics when the mood struck. After two years of nonstop writing and recording, he then began to connect with other fellow artists through high-school which gave him an ambitious attitude to be better than the next person on the microphone. Knowing that if he's the only one using every minute on the clock, constantly working and exercising his lyrical ability, that it would eventually bring him to successfully accomplishing what many would have thought to be an impossible dream. Due to the constant struggle and family dis-function, his energy and subject matter broadened, "I, Direck, hereby solemnly sware to give all that my soul can give, in order to prosper in a career as a well known Hip-Hop artist out of Carolina, I speak in a 3rd person view, so others can put themselves into the music, and maybe direct them into a different kind of understanding."
"Understand that anything is possible when you never stop striving for perfection."
-in the eyes of Direck

Location: Raleigh

it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests
