We had taken on a lab mixed dog a few years ago with skin issues and skittishness. She had been tied outside and practically starved when we got her. Though she's physically in good condition she still has skin problems and needs regular treatments and allergy shots. (Zicam, Benedryl, ect are just not strong enough) We've been laid off way to long to pay for any more of her medical needs right now. We would do all we can to feed her if that was all it was, but she needs a little larger investment. From what we can tell she allergic to fleas and several types of grass.

She's not as skittish as she used to be, and is excellent with small kids and cats! We've also spent time training her so she knows many tricks for the right treats!

Looking for a LEAD SINGER to front a Hard Rock band. Band does rock from 60's to Current. Consists of Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass and Drums. We would prefer a singer that plays the KEYBOARDS. Any additional instrument (including harmonica), would be a plus, but also can play percussion (Tamborine, shakers, etc) We would like to have about half of our material include keyboards. The others songs would be rockers where the lead singer can move around and have fun. We have some gigs lined up and would like to begin playing regularly at local bars/clubs. We have a potential location where we could be a house band as well.

We might consider a lead singer that plays guitar, (if keyboard singer/player not available) because one guitarist in the band can also play keyboard, so as long as we have the flexibility, it may be OK.

We have a permanent practice location in Apex with all equipment and practice 1-2 times a week. Band makeup is mid-late 40's. We'd like to gig 1-3 times per month around the Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Durham, CH, etc area at the local small bars.

Some examples of our cover Bands are Foo Fighters, Green Day, 3 Doors Down, Lenny Kravitz, Pearl Jam, Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Beatles, Police, Pearl Jam and many more. We also have some original tunes and we would like to write and record more as well. With the addition of a keyboard/singer we would like to cover bands like Journey, Eagles, Billy Joel, Elton John, and other great 80's, 90's bands.

We'd like someone with decent range and personality with on stage presence. Male is preferred because of our music taste and range. We are not doing this for money, etc, but it is a hobby that we are all very committed to/and just enjoy playing. Summer is coming and we also will line up some party and outdoor gigs. If you are interested to try out, please contact Mike.

I am looking for a small lap dog or puppy that will be 25lbs or less. When we left my son's dad, we had to leave our dog (who i bought for my son's 1st birthday) with his dad as she was too big to keep in our new home. I had gotten another dog here for him for christmas and was forced again to get rid of him because he was too big for our appartment and my 8 yr old son and I were heartbroken over the loss of this one as well. I was told by the landlord that we could have a dog no bigger then 25lbs. Can anyone help me find the right dog for my son and I that we can love, hold, play with, and cherish. We have plenty of time to spend on this new dog or puppy and soooo much love as well. I really want to see my son's eyes light up again with a new found dog or puppy he can have fun with and run around the house with. He has a lot of energy to use up with this new family member we will hopefully get soon. Thanks. You can contact me at 919-625-8519 my name is Anita. Please will someone help me soon.

I don't know who you and you don't know who i am which i think is best for what i am about to say. Are you the lady that calls the shelter? Harasses those super nice people up there? Do you not realize that the people up there are rescuers with the exception of like 2 not to mention all but one volunteers at that shelter. Now i don't know if you are a graduate or not but i am so i know that if you put the pieces together it all makes sense. If the people that are up there want the animals to die or just want to torture the animals why not grab them on the side of the road? Why spend their valuable time taking care of them spending the counties money to get dog food or have running water or lights heating and air up there if they are going to just do all that to the animals? MAKES NO SENSE TO ME!!! Now i have pulled from that shelter several times and I have seen the animals living conditions. They don't sleep on wooden pallets, they have heat ,they have water, they have food. They all get fed by people everyday starting sometimes as early as 4 in the morning working til 5 in the evening or sometimes later. The only time they use the stick to hold the dog is if the dog is an aggressive dog which they have VERY few of. All the other dogs are taken care of and treated better than what they were being treated living on the streets or in some cases the homes they were in. Now i am an animal lover and would do just about ANYTHING for the ones that i have which is why i joined a rescue so my advice to you is this. If you don't like their living conditions which are way better than some of them had then i suggest getting a big piece of land out in the country somewhere and adopting all of those dogs or why not foster them so you can bring them back to good health then give them to someone that is looking for an animal that needs a second chance. I have had many dogs come through my house who were scared to death, or semi aggressive but have now been placed in good homes and are no longer semi aggressive or scared. Do you know why that is? It's because of someone like me that made a difference in their life by taking them in adopting or fostering and giving them the love they wanted and deserved then gave them to a forever home that they get even more love at. I am not trying to be immature about this but seriously grow up and just do something to help them instead of trying to harass someone's business. Those people that volunteer and work there don't torture those animals. they try their best to bring them back to life. Unfortunately some of which don't get that second chance because they came in with parvo or worms or something else and it has just gotten the best of them. It's the cycle of life you just have to come to terms with that.

With all that said i hope you have a great day and go forth with much needed help to these animals.

V/R
B
Shelter Dogs - So Worth Rescuing!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Date: 2010-03-10, 8:45PM EST
Reply to: comm-tw9jg-1638391424@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Original Post:

A Letter from a Shelter Manager
I think our society needs a huge "Wake-up" call. As a shelter manager, I am going to share a little insight with you all...a view from the inside if you will.

First off, all of you breeders/sellers should be made to work in the "back" of an animal shelter for just one day. Maybe if you saw the life drain from a few sad, lost, confused eyes, you would change your mind about breeding and selling to people you don't even know.

That puppy you just sold will most likely end up in my shelter when it's not a cute little puppy anymore. So how would you feel if you knew that there's about a 90% chance that dog will never walk out of the shelter it is going to be dumped at? Purebred or not! About 50% of all of the dogs that are "owner surrenders" or "strays", that come into my shelter are purebred dogs.

The most common excuses I hear are; "We are moving and we can't take our dog (or cat)." Really? Where are you moving too that doesn't allow pets? Or they say "The dog got bigger than we thought it would". How big did you think a German Shepherd would get? "We don't have time for her". Really? I work a 10-12 hour day and still have time for my 6 dogs! "She's tearing up our yard". How about making her a part of your family? They always tell me "We just don't want to have to stress about finding a place for her we know she'll get adopted, she's a good dog".

Odds are your pet won't get adopted & how stressful do you think being in a shelter is? Well, let me tell you, your pet has 72 hours to find a new family from the moment you drop it off. Sometimes a little longer if the shelter isn't full and your dog manages to stay completely healthy. If it sniffles, it dies. Your pet will be confined to a small run/kennel in a room with about 25 other barking or crying animals. It will have to relieve itself where it eats and sleeps. It will be depressed and it will cry constantly for the family that abandoned it. If your pet is lucky, I will have enough volunteers in that day to take him/her for a walk. If I don't, your pet won't get any attention besides having a bowl of food slid under the kennel door and the waste sprayed out of its pen with a high-powered hose. If your dog is big, black or any of the "Bully" breeds (pit bull, rottie, mastiff, etc) it was pretty much dead when you walked it through the front door.

Those dogs just don't get adopted. It doesn't matter how 'sweet' or 'well behaved' they are.

If your dog doesn't get adopted within its 72 hours and the shelter is full, it will be destroyed. If the shelter isn't full and your dog is good enough, and of a desirable enough breed it may get a stay of execution, but not for long . Most dogs get very kennel protective after about a week and are destroyed for showing aggression. Even the sweetest dogs will turn in this environment. If your pet makes it over all of those hurdles chances are it will get kennel cough or an upper respiratory infection and will be destroyed because shelters just don't have the funds to pay for even a $100 treatment.

Here's a little euthanasia 101 for those of you that have never witnessed a perfectly healthy, scared animal being "put-down".

First, your pet will be taken from its kennel on a leash. They always look like they think they are going for a walk happy, wagging their tails. Until they get to "The Room", every one of them freaks out and puts on the brakes when we get to the door. It must smell like death or they can feel the sad souls that are left in there, it's strange, but it happens with every one of them. Your dog or cat will be restrained, held down by 1 or 2 vet techs depending on the size and how freaked out they are. Then a euthanasia tech or a vet will start the process. They will find a vein in the front leg and inject a lethal dose of the "pink stuff". Hopefully your pet doesn't panic from being restrained and jerk. I've seen the needles tear out of a leg and been covered with the resulting blood and been deafened by the yelps and screams. They all don't just "go to sleep", sometimes they spasm for a while, gasp for air and defecate on themselves.

When it all ends, your pets corpse will be stacked like firewood in a large freezer in the back with all of the other animals that were killed waiting to be picked up like garbage. What happens next? Cremated? Taken to the dump? Rendered into pet food? You'll never know and it probably won't even cross your mind. It was just an animal and you can always buy another one, right?

I hope that those of you that have read this are bawling your eyes out and can't get the pictures out of your head I deal with everyday on the way home from work.

I hate my job, I hate that it exists & I hate that it will always be there unless you people make some changes and realize that the lives you are affecting go much farther than the pets you dump at a shelter.

Between 9 and 11 MILLION animals die every year in shelters and only you can stop it. I do my best to save every life I can but rescues are always full, and there are more animals coming in everyday than there are homes.

My point to all of this DON'T BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER PETS DIE!

Hate me if you want to. The truth hurts and reality is what it is. I just hope I maybe changed one persons mind about breeding their dog, taking their loving pet to a shelter, or buying a dog. I hope that someone will walk into my shelter and say "I saw this and it made me want to adopt". THAT WOULD MAKE IT WORTH IT

>>>> For those of you that care--- please repost this to at least one other craiglist in another city/state. Let's see if we can get this all around the US and have an impact <<<<

Hi there!

My name is Laura, and I am seeking a full-time nannying job for the summer of 2010. I am a dean's list, full-time student at North Carolina State University and will be living in Raleigh this summer, starting as early as mid-May. I absolutely love children, and would rather be a nanny than work any other sort of job. I was a full time nanny in Charleston, SC for a 3-year-old, 2-year-old and 6-month-old all at the same time, so I consider myself to be a very responsible, experienced sitter. Right now I am an occasional sitter for multiple families with children ranging from all ages, and have had over 5-years experience with being a babysitter. I am a very friendly, out-going and laid back; I have very reliable means of transportation (and I'm a very safe driver!), I am a non-smoker, and I also love pets and animals too, and would love to help out with any pet-needs. I would also be more than happy to help out with any errands or light house-work! Most importantly, as a nanny I would be 110% punctual, attentive and engaging with your child(ren). For more information on me, please view my Sittercity babysitting profile at http://babysitters.sittercity.com/profile/751672.html. I have full-background check results, parent ratings and a picture of myself posted. I can also send you a full list of references and a resume if needed!

Please feel free to contact me if you think I could be the sitter/nanny you're looking for this summer. Thank you so much for your time! (:

His owner was located, but she never came to reclaim him. I had met Wudgie back when he came in the low-cost spay/neuter clinic at Paws4Ever for his neuter, and we thought it was a shame to let this young, healthy dog sit at the shelter. Let me tell you about Lucky and his story. WE own a dog grooming and boarding shop in Middlesex and we rescue stray and abandoned dogs and pups. We today one of our customers and Nash County deputy sheriff surrenderd a pure blooded pitbull puppy. This puppy is about $600-1500 he has double Eli lines and for people who don't know what that means Eli is the number one game bred pitbull bloodline in exsistence. Which basically means fighter pits, which North Carolina has one of the largest Eli bloodline breeding. Well the officer brought this puppy in to us in a small closed dog cage, he then took the puppy out. The dog was so emaciated that he was literally skin and bones. He and his two sisters had been tied on the front porch of the owners house, the officer found homes for the girls because they were healthier. This baby was so skinny you could see every bone in his body, he was a walking puppy skeleton. He was so anemic that his gums and tongue and his skin it was so white when it should be pink. After eating some bowls of food and getting some wormer in him he looked like a totally different puppy. We named him Lucky because he is lucky to be alive. We are going to get first shots soon. THis puppy will stay with us until he gets alittle bigger and healthier. He is white with tan spots. Here are the requirements to adopt this boy.

1. A background check- This is required by the officer who surrendered him to us.
2. A neuter contract
3. We prefer vet refrences
4. We might do a home visit
5. There will be a rehoming fee to ensure he goes to a new home

I can email picture upon request.

There is no point in anyone replying to the ad if they do not agree to the things that are required, this puppy is a animal neglect case, he deserves the best for his life from now on, we can't believe someone could do this to this beautiful boy. He loves everyone and he gets along with other dogs/puppies and cats.

You cant outlaw a political party. The First Ammendment guarantees freedom of assembly.

This is why Nazis can hold rallies and marches throughout the State of Illinois.

Decent Americans have already deserted the party. They may yet hold to liberalism, with which I simply disagree, but they have rejected the extreme marxist and radical positions assumed by the Administration. At this point, its safe to say that Americans, by a significant majority, feel as though they have stepped through the Looking Glass (and want badly to step back out.) Mainstream network news says otherwise, of course, but network news is also a BIG loser in all of this. CBS and ABC are cutting back, closing bureaus, laying off staff. They cant generate revenue for the company, because they are losing viewers every single day. Yet the talking heads - mathews, oberman, couric, et al. - continue to espouse this propaganda, recycling it all to a fifth-grade level. They do this because that is what they are paid to do, and their careers are too heavily invested in past lies for them to start telling the truth now. At this point, they can only be fired, and replaced with a fresh face, but the networks havent cultivated any fresh faces that can credibly reverse course, and start broadcasting the truth. Even if a network was so inclined, and I've seen little evidence of THAT.

So the bottom line is there's a lot of pro-obama noise, a lot of pro-obama visuals and photo-ops, a lot of pro-obama forum posts and talk-radio callers (relatively, anyways), BUT .... the polling numbers arent "there" anymore. Not in ANY poll. Obama just hit a new, all-time low in the Rasmussen poll. He's around -21, or somewhere near there.

The dems have created a mess of the economy, AND of their own legislative process. So much so that not only are they losing seats, but many are simply retiring at the end of their terms. And wouldnt you? Given, for example, that you are BOTH a liberal Democrat AND an American, would YOU want any part of what Obama has brought to Washington?

This has to be cleaned up in November. We all have to vote. Dont worry about outlawing the Democratic party. They've already destroyed the value of their market brand.
Yes, she did.

I've been monitoring her from the start, she's kept a pretty low profile through all of this, but she seems to be a wild-eyed liberal at heart. She's a freshman senator, so we're stuck with her for a while, unless she draws the rage of rahm emmanuel of course.

She appeared on WPTF a couple of months ago, and re-assured the listening audience that she would NOT vote for any bill which wasnt "deficit neutral," whatever THAT means to HER. "And," she immediately added, "President Obama has said the bill is deficit neutral."

You get the picture.

I wonder, on occasion, how many of our representatives ARE in fact, flat-out intimidated by the Obama administration. Obama acorns have forced their way into homes, assaulted reporters, promoted prostitution, and advised on tax evasion strategies. Obama advisers have assaulted reporters. Rahm Emmanuel intimidated Massa, and who knows who else. These people are southside thugs from the City of Chicago. If they have any limits whatsoever, I'd like to know what they are, and what evidence exists to support that.

Hagan and my rep, Brad Miller, will be back - PRESUMABLY - for the Congressional break. During the break last august, Miller cancelled his appearances, claiming that someone had threatened his life. I requested his schedule no less than four times that month, and never got a response from his office. As far as I know, he made two, unannounced appearances - one "town hall" of some sort, another at a senior citizens gathering.

Your guess is as good as mine. But I know this: this healthcare bill WILL be killed, sooner or later, and this bill is a litmus test for me. Its up to Hagan and Miller to prove that they have some redeeming quality which entitles them to hold office. If they continue to back this thing, the electorate will never forget it.
New never been opened LitterMaid Advanced Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box (LME9000)
Purchased at Petsmart for $169.99 For sale as $125 cash only please :)
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2750954&lmdn=Cat

PRODUCT FEATURES

Designed for extra large cats or multiple cat households. Now your cat's litter box area will be constantly clean. This litter box actually cleans itself and deposits the waste in a disposable container that seals away the waste and odors. When the receptacle is full, just throw it away and replace with a fresh one (replacements sold separately).

The litter box's infrared sensor detects waste deposits and rakes them away 10 minutes after your cat departs the litter box. Super quiet motor uses a low-voltage AC adapter (included) or batteries (8 standard "AA" batteries -- not included). If the cat re-enters and leaves the litter box before the initial 10 minutes have elapsed, the timer will automatically reset and delay the beginning of the cleaning cycle for an additional 10 minutes. Safety bar automatically stops the cleaning rake at the slightest touch. Box also has an On/Off switch and indicator light, sleep timer and a sensor activated ionic air cleaner to minimize odors between cycles.

Constantly Clean Litter Box: Unit automatically rakes waste into sealable container minutes after use.
Sensor-Activated Ionic Air Cleaner: Detects when cat exits the unit, activating the ionic air cleaner until the rake cycle has ended.
Sleep Timer For Nighttime Use: Rake is at rest for 9 hours, then ionic air cleaner cycles on for 10 minutes every hour to freshen the air.
Removable Steel Rake: Durable rake detaches easily for cleaning.
Extra Large Capacity: Ideal for large and/or multiple cat households.
Safety Bar: Automatically stops and reverses the cleaning rake at the slightest touch.
Detachable Litter Tray: Makes cleaning of litter tray easier.
Low Voltage: Operates with household current or standard "AA" cell batteries (batteries not included).
Paw Cleaning Ramp: Traps litter when your cat exits the box; the sturdy removable ramp supports even the largest and heaviest of cats.
4 Waste Receptacles: Disposable, sealable waste receptacles provide a healthier, virtually odor-free environment.
4 Carbon Filters: Easy to install, replacement carbon filters will reduce litter box odors by 50%.

Electoral politics are a sham. The media have been debased and defanged by corporate owners. The working class has been impoverished and is now being plunged into profound despair. The legal system has been corrupted to serve corporate interests. Popular institutions, from labor unions to political parties, have been destroyed or emasculated by corporate power. And any form of protest, no matter how tepid, is blocked by an internal security apparatus that is starting to rival that of the East German secret police. The mounting anger and hatred, coursing through the bloodstream of the body politic, make violence and counter-violence inevitable. Brace yourself. The American empire is over. And the descent is going to be horrifying.

Those singled out as internal enemies will include people of color, immigrants, gays, intellectuals, feminists, Jews, Muslims, union leaders and those defined as “liberals.” They will be condemned as anti-American and blamed for our decline. The economic collapse, which remains mysterious and enigmatic to most Americans, will be pinned by demagogues and hatemongers on these hapless scapegoats. And the random acts of violence, which are already leaping up around the fringes of American society, will justify harsh measures of internal control that will snuff out the final vestiges of our democracy. The corporate forces that destroyed the country will use the information systems they control to mask their culpability. The old game of blaming the weak and the marginal, a staple of despotic regimes, will empower the dark undercurrents of sadism and violence within American society and deflect attention from the corporate vampires that have drained the blood of the country.

http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/calling_all_rebels_20100308/
