<![CDATA[Hello: What you paint on is almost as important as what you paint. For some this means canvas, but for other artists, it means panels. If you are an artist who works with panels you no longer have to worry about size or expense or whether or not the local art supply dealer will have the size you want. I'll build it for you -- quality workmanship, custom sizes, whatever you want for your art. My standard works are 1"- 1 �"- 2" pine or spruce cradle with S2S hardboard (AKA Masonite) or 5.2 mm birch ply, flush mounted or roundover. These panels can be ordered plain, pre-primed w/ 2 coats acrylic gesso (black or white), and with 'float' frames.I build my panels with no nails or screws or staples: everything is glued and all joints are mitered. My pricing is very straightforward and you will find me to be more than competitive with local art suppliers. I also will build all of the extra sizes that you would have to special order, produce and deliver them to your studio in half the time and for less than the local supplier. My pricing is very simple: Cost for hardboard is base priced at $3.75 sq.ft. Birch ply is $5.00 sq. ft. This is for a basic panel, flush mounted with no extras.If you want your panel pre-primed add .50 per sq. ft. Float frames extend 1" around the perimeter of the board, with a �" gullet. Float frames come pre-painted with 2 coats of flat black enamel, and are an additional $1.50 per sq. ft. On Friday, Feb 10th, the Fuquay Varina Arts Council will present "Art after Dark," the 2nd Friday art walk in Fuquay Varina, NC. As part of this event, we will have an "Artist and Crafters Market" set up in downtown Fuquay, in the area where the art walk will be taking place. (This month, the artist market will be INSIDE!) "Xiucutil: The Origin of Beautiful Species," features paintings and burned images on salvaged wood by Durham native Joe McDonough. McDonough is a conceptual, performance, and visual-based artist, writer, and musician. He is also a comedian. He was born in Durham in 1981. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, McDonough has drawn experience for his art and comedy while living in cities across the US, including Providence, Baltimore, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, upstate New York, and various towns in North Carolina. He currently lives in Richmond, Virginia. Interested in the way time affects objects, McDonough works largely with found and discarded materials. (and if you are a photographer and haven't read my posts, I have a 3000 sqft open warehouse area for $15/hr.) in the late evenings I have various performance artists and musicians (hourly rate again). But during the afternoon I mostly have the full 5500sqft to myself. My goal is to give artists a place to go and get away and work on a project. The hours I am making available to artists are 4 - 10pm M - F and weekends 12 - 6. Hours can increase due to demand. To kick things off I will be asking only $20 for a week of use. Monday night nude figure drawing and other group activies start at $10/session. Come paint or pencil, or sketch or ink...Set up a table or use one of mine if it's available.
