It is the actor's job to make their characters come alive through behavior. Working with Heather, students will uncover the behavior in a scene through the use of character improvisations, private moments, exploring the shadow side of characters, animal work and a character interview. All of the exercises taught will help to further engage the student's imagination and belief in the world of a play. This exhibit runs through September 11. Safe Passage is a non-profit organization working to provide a safe alternative for children living around and working in the Guatemala City garbage dump. Eight Guatemalan students have been learning basic photography techniques and have taken pictures of many vivid aspects in and around their lives. The photographs are for sale, and proceeds will benefit the Safe Passage photography club so they can continue taking pictures! The exhibit also features wonderful handmade jewelry fabricated by a group of mothers from Safe Passage. The recycled paper jewelry is for sale and proceeds benefit the mothers, who are part of the Adult Literacy Program. The Scrap Exchange/Safe Passage exhibit grew out of a trip to Guatemala by Durham artists Bryant Holsenbeck, Julia Gartrell and Bonnie Wright who taught a Scrap Exchange-style art workshop there earlier in the summer. <![CDATA[I teach childrens Art Classes in Cary to kids ages 5-12. I teach them out of my home on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:15-5:15pm. I like to have alot of variety in the class and keep it from being boring and redundant to the kids and I thought it would be a great idea if I could invite a local artist to come in and bring their work, maybe set up a mini art show, talk about their work and how they accomplished it, have the kids ask them questions, and just donate their time for an hour to help the kids appreciate art and see it from someone elses perspective besides mine! I am looking for someone who either works with clay, paints, or draws/sketches. I have a large room where we could display the work or however you want to do it. In our Art Programs we teach you beginning, intermediate and advanced fine art drawing and painting techniques to children and adults.
