<![CDATA[For sale a somewhat dilapidated electric kiln. I believe it is 10 cubic feet. It is not in the best condition, as it has been outside under a shelter for the past seven or eight years. The bricks are pretty fragile, and there are some cracks, but it has held together so far. When it is turned on, one of the sections comes on, but the others do not. This is likely due to some wiring issues inside the controller that may (or may not) be easily remedied. The elements themselves are used but probably have some life in them still. <![CDATA[Amazing Funeral Grouping signed by Josefina Aguilar I purchased these directly from the family studio in Ocotlan in July, 1990 and carried them through Mexico and Guatemala in my cloth duffle bag. They are in perfect condition. 20 pieces. 8 women, 3 men, man in coffin on stand, 4 candles on pillars, and 2 weeping angels. Wonderful expressions and detail, including flowers and even a mother nursing her baby! All the people have Josefina's signature etched on the inside. The Aguilar family from Ocotl�n, Oaxaca, Mexico has a long tradition of creating imaginative and humorous decorative figurines that have graced homes and museums all over the world. These brightly colored figures depict cultural traditions and scenes from everyday life in Mexico. The folkart form was created by Dona Isaura Alcantara Diaz who died in 1969 at the age of 44. Do�a Isaura Alcantara sold her craftwork directly to Nelson Rockefeller and Alexander Gerourd of the International Folk Art Museum. Her children - Guillermina, Josefina, Irene, Concepcion, and Jesus - her grandchildren, and Josefina's husband, Jose, have carried on the work. Josephina Aguilar Alcantara, a serious and dedicated artist, may be the most recognized among Do�a Isaura's daughters, and her works are perhaps the most widely collected. Her clay figures depict people and rituals in everyday village life, as well as incredible religious and folkloric figures and scenes. Josefina creates " munecas" human figures of both female and male gender, in a vast array of activities, venues and costumes. Josefina regards the faces, and especially the noses of her figures, as her trademark. In fulfilling the many requests that she has for Fridas (figures based on the very popular Frida Kahlo) Josefina emphasizes her practice of making different faces on each one. Josefina Aguilar is perhaps one of the most collectable folk artists today. Josefina's skill was noticed when she was still quite young, and by the time she was in her early twenties, articles about her work began to appear in European and North American journals. Today, her work can be seen in the International Folk Art Museum of Santa Fe, the Rockefeller wing of the San Antonio Art Museum, and the Mexican Museums of San Francisco and Chicago.
